We are located on the Sudbury to Marks Tey Railway line, National Express East Anglia operate an hourly service seven days per week, all year round. Direct trains can be taken from Sudbury to the Museum (we're based within Chappel and Wakes Colne, National Rail station).
Connections are also available from the mainline, simply take a train which calls at Marks Tey and make the easy change there for the Sudbury train.

By Road
Coming from Ipswich, Chelmsford or London (Via A12)
Leave A12 at Junction 26 (Colchester Zoo Turnoff) and follow the A1124 towards Halstead, after around 5 miles you will see a large railway viaduct proceed under this and turn right at the cross roads, we are a short distance up the hill in the railway station.(marked by the British Rail Double Arrow Logo)
Coming from Colchester (through Town)
Follow the signs through the town to join the A1124 towards Halstead, after around 5 miles you will see a large railway viaduct proceed under this and turn right at the cross roads, we are a short distance up the hill in the railway station.(marked by the British Rail Double Arrow Logo)
Coming from Sudbury
Leave the town via Cornard Road and follow the road around 6 miles through Bures, on leaving Bures take first right towards Mount Bures, proceed up hill over railway level crossing, and follow road for about 3 miles. After going over the hump back bridge follow road another 500 metres and we're located in Station Road on the left. (If you've got as far as the crossroads/viaduct - you've gone too far!)
By Bus:
First Essex Bus and Hedingham Omnibuses operate services to Chappel and Wakes Colne Post Office (five minutes walk from the Museum up the hill) every hour Mondays to Saturdays (routes 88 and 88A) and every two hours on Sundays (route 88C). These routes operate from Colchester Bus Station via Chappel and Wakes Colne to Halstead. (Colchester Bus Station is situated in the town centre). Network Colchester also operate some limited services via Chappel.
