Guided Tours and School Visits at the Museum
Are you a group which is interested in visiting the Museum, or a school teacher who would like to bring a class of children?
If so then we may be able to provide a tour guide for your visit who will be able to show you around the Museum and explain in detail about the various items of rolling stock we have, and also give details of the Museum and its history, along with a basic history about railways in the area.
School Visits
We welcome school groups of all sizes, however for larger groups we will need more than one guide and split the group to make it easier, we do also ask that the school brings 1 member of staff for every 10 children and staff members must stay with the group at all times.
We are open every day and will try to accommodate your group on any day, however we recommend you visit on a Wednesday as on this day we have a team working on the trains and carriages which will add an extra element to your visit.
The charge is £2 per child, with no additional charge for the staff which comes along with the group. If you would like train rides, this will include an extra charge, please contact us to discuss the pricing. We also ask that you give 2-4 weeks notice of your visit if you would like a guide, and approx 4 weeks notice if you require train rides to enable us to source volunteers.
If your group or club would like a visit to the Museum we can also assist in providing a guide and additional refreshment facilities, details on requesting a guide are above, however for groups we can also offer Weekend visits during our opening hours of 10 - 4:30pm.
Group Visits incur no other charge than the normal Museum admission for that day, a group with 10 or more people attracts a 10% discount.
