If you've got this far in our website, you clearly must have an interest in trains or what we do, then have you ever thought of getting involved with the Museum? Volunteers of all ages are wanted!

The Museum is run by volunteers - and without them it would be impossible to exist, they do everything from drive the trains, operate the signals, act as guard, crossing keeper, ticket checker.
Also a large number of the volunteers which you see at our operating days also come along most other weekends and do all the repair and maintenance of the trains, which includes restoration of steam engines, carriages and wagons, also a track and signal mantenance.
Anyone of any age is welcome - have a look at the picture on the left from the early 90s showing a gang of members of all ages, however most of our volunteers and aged between 16 and 70. Due to HMRI restrictions there are certain limitations that people below 18 can do in an operation aspect, however our Traffic Manager can adivse more.
To volunteer at the Museum you need to become a member, this costs just £20 a year for an adult, this will give you free admission to the Museum (not major event days) - you will also receive our magazine, Stour Valley Steam three times per year.
