Situated towards the rear of the site, the Heritage Centre is an indoor exhibition comprising of exhibits and displays of the railway age.

There is something to interest all ages, including interactive signal panels and hands-on exhibits for children to engage with.  Big button telephones are located throughout the site so you can listen to audio recordings about a range of topics.  We are adding additional displays all the time, so come along and have a look.

  • The men who built the railways
  • The history of signalling and safety on the railway
  • How to run a railway
  • The history (and demise) of the Stour Valley Line between Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds
  • The origins of the iconic Colne Valley and Chappel viaduct
