Summer Holiday Activity Mornings

Interested in railways, the military, engineering or nature…?  If so then join us for a Summer Holiday Activity Morning for some ‘hands-on history’!

Each of the three themed family activity sessions will include a mixture of special temporary displays, object handling, craft activities, museum trails and quizzes.

Try on some World War I and World War II uniforms and equipment, budding engineers can take on the ‘build-a-bridge’ challenge or create artwork with paint and tools from nature, collected in our lovely rural museum setting.

No need to book, just drop in between 10am and 1pm.

Why not spend the day?

Stay for lunch in our beautiful vintage dining car or bring a picnic to eat on the field or in the picnic bus!  The museum is set in 12 acres so there’s lots of room for outdoor play, a train-themed play area and indoor model railway layouts as well.  Explore the period station buildings, have a go at operating the signal box and see our grand old locomotives under restoration in the shed.

Please note, museum trains will not be running today but come along by train (we’re right on Chappel & Wakes Colne station) and get an extra 10% off your admission when you show your train tickets at reception.
